OTTAWA, 7 a.m., Oct. 2 — Kenneth Richey will return to the same courthouse where he was sentenced to death this morning, this time in hopes of being given his freedom until a new trial begins.
Richey will attend a bond hearing at 10 a.m. today at the Putnam County Courthouse.
After spending twenty years on death row in the US, Kenny Richey could be freed from jail today.
The 43-year-old from Edinburgh faces a bail hearing in Ohio after judges overturned his conviction for murder and arson two months ago.
Richey had been sentenced to death in 1987 for starting a fire which killed a two year old girl. Today he could be released for the first time in 21 years or a date set for a retrial.
