Susan Sarrandon has made this statement last night. The article was picked up from the Scottish Sun by the Edinburgh News
FILM star Susan Sarandon has backed death row Scot Kenny Richey's bid for freedom.
The Hollywood actress is a campaigner against the death penalty in the United States and her support comes as judges in Cincinnati, Ohio, are to question whether evidence that emerged after Richey's 1986 murder trial should be re-examined.
Sarandon, 56, who starred in death row movie Dead Man Walking, was reported as saying:
"I urge Ohio Supreme Court to consider re-examining the evidence and the possibility of admitting new evidence in a new trial."

However this is not new news. In fact me thinks the reporter did some copying and pasting and hoped no one would notice.
In 2002 Susan Sarrandon wrote this on behalf of Kenny and his campaign and it made world news.
I want to add my voice to the growing campaign to have the whole case re-examined.
Individuals and organizations as diverse as his Holiness the Pope, the European Parliament, the Archbishop of Canterbury and Amnesty International believe there is such a 'reasonable doubt' over the validity of the conviction that there should at the very least, be a retrial.
New forensic evidence uncovered by the defense has opened up new areas of doubt.
I was approached by the Kenny Richey campaign because of my opposition to capital punishment.
For the family of the victim of this crime - I have nothing but the deepest sympathy. Losing a child is an agony no parent should have to endure.
I call on the authorities in Ohio to re-examine the evidence, listen to the voices around the world and look again at the detail of the case.
Yours sincerely
Susan Sarandon
