This thread discusses the Content article: Please help Dennis Skillicorn
I am all for helping people who deserve the help but this letter sure leaves out alot about the Character of Dennis Skillicorn and the man he truly is. This letter written by his wife, a woman who before married to Skillicorn embraced my mother and shared words of sympathy with her for her loss. Skillicorn was given the death sentence for the murder of Richard Drummond, he was also sentenced for two murders in Az. That of my aunt and uncle. If Mr. Skillicorn is so innocent of Drummonds murder then why did he choose to get in a car and drive from MO to Az and murder two more people? Sorry but this one disgusts me. The news keeps putting out that Az did not see him as the trigger man in the caes and that neither did the victims family.. Sorry Mrs. Skillicorn but you heard my statement that day in court as I stood behind your husband. We, the family of Charlene and Joseph Babcock do blame Mr. Skillicorn for his actions in Az and for them in Mo. You see I lived there where he murdered Drummond as well. And you are leaving out your husbands statements to Allen Nicklasson before Mr. Drummond was shot. I suggest anyone wanting to sign this petition not do so blindly.. read the facts and this mans entire history. He was envolved in5 murders.. 4 proven. This clemancy is a slap in the face to he family memebers of his victims. Lastly.. i wonder if he is so regretful.. why do I still watch the mailbox and wonder if he will ever write and appologize to ANY of Charlene and Joes family.?I am sure with all Mrs. Skillicorn's resources.. she can aquire those addresses. I imagine i will be deleted from this blog now? |
No you wont be deleted.
First of all, I am very sad about your terrible loss. My heart goes out to you and your family.
I do not know enough about what you are talking about to comment on it and so I won't insult you by pretending I do.
What I do know is that Dennis Skillicorn has made a lot of effort over the years to help others.
I also do not believe killing him will help anyone.
I believe that he is not asking for freedom, and neither is his wife.
Once again though, I am sorry for the trauma your family has endured.
God Bless you

No you won't. You are perfectly entitled to have your say, and all of us on here can understand your anger and frustration. But the situation is, Dennis Skillicorn cannot write to you, it would be seen as witness intimidation in the eyes of the law. The only way it rarely happens is if the Defence lawyers approach the State Prosecutor and ask if a letter can be passed on. Usually, the answer is 'No'. Getting mail from someone who's killed a loved one can be even more upsetting for some people, and the State wants the anger kept in the victim's family because it ensures that clemency and leniency don't become issues they'll have to handle. You don't feel that way, but it does happen with some MVFS. |
I don't know how you can say it is an issue the family would not have to deal with. Really it is..we get the phhone calls..it's plastered all over the media. This is an issue we have dealt with for 14 years. I am wondering where accountabilty for ones actions have gone in this nation. It has been proven that when the dealthy penalty was stopped in states.. murder rates rose..in some states even doubled.

Jenn, we're at different terms here. When I said 'issues' it wasn't issues you'll have to handle, but the State. Christ knows that you have plenty enough issues to deal with, with all that's happened to your family.
The State having to handle issues of clemency and leniency, not the family. Sometimes, the family can change their minds - and I know it's not going to happen with you - but sometimes it has happened and then the State have to deal with the family requesting that the person not be killed. They don't like that happening so prefer it if there's no contact sometimes between the killer and the victim's family. You're already likely to view them as sub-human animals, and they prefer it to be kept that way.
Accountability doesn't exist in these misbegotten times. Money's the God, and having a good time, and tough sh*te to everyone else. We've got cheap lives, and we've allowed that to happen with the way we all live now. Life's been cheapened to a terrible extent, and you're paying way too heavy a price. |
