This thread discusses the Content article: Schapelle Corby Case

I think what strikes me hardest reading about a case such as Chapelles, is that it could happen to anyone.

It could easily have happened to me, I had thoughts of visiting Bali some ten years ago. The only thing it would have taken would have been to let my stuff out of sight for a while, something that is hard NOT to do when you fly internationally.

There's a lot of drugs in the region, and I understand the idea of zero-tolerance - but at the same time they impose truly draconian punishments for crimes that would mean a couple of years in jail over here. You can take our punishments and multiply by five or even ten -- not to speak of the DP they seem to impose as easily as going to the barber.

The Chapelle-case seem so haphazard I can barely fathom it. It is like noone was really interested in solving the case, only in getting a conviction. Scary as hell.
Every time I get a reason to reevaluate some of my preconceptions, it makes me that much younger and more vital.

I agree. Its damn scary this case. To think, you put your boggie board bag [I own one and it goes with me every time I travel] and terribly you end up with this kind of frame up that appears to be known by those in the justice system in Australia.
Just doesn't seem right this case that she should be doing this time when its clearly a huge problem with baggage handlers [some] being involved in the trafficking of drugs into Bali.

I do hope that something breaks in this case and she gets her justice and the problem is highlighted. I would say a clear warning should be given to people who travel this route.
