This thread discusses the Content article: Unity of Purpose
Karen You have no idea how glad I am for you and Kenny's family, and I'm not around much (thanks to AOL and a house move) but would just like to say something as have been this route with Arkie. Now Kenny's in Putnam County Jail, respect for that jail is of the utmost importance. They don't appreciate the extra security, media notice, or stress that having someone in Kenny's position brings them. The staff tend to be torn on the issue of his innocence and it's in their hands whether he's treated well or not. They don't always appreciate European interference, either, that's for sure. You posted about someone calling that jail - that has to stop NOW. That is not political activism at this point - it's troublemaking, to the jail's mind. If you respect them they'll respect you - but like hospitals they're only duty bound to deal with immediate family and legal, anyone else just pisses them off. You don't know how long he's going to be in there and at the moment he's on his own, but if he's there for any amount of time and he behaves himself, they may well let him integrate at some point. They did with Arkie - it's the stigma of the 'Death Row' label hanging over their heads that guides a lot of the guard's actions. Some of them expect the likes of Hannibal Lecter and have trouble adjusting when they find they've got more of a 'Pee Wee Herman', on their hands. But now can come the time when the dirty games can get worse - I'm not being pessimistic but because Kenny's got this trial - it's not safe to assume that this is going to be any cleaner than the previous one, in fact, given the circumstances, and given the opportunity, it could be even dirtier. Been there, done that, got the retrial TY-shirt on this one. Arkie's given his belongings away twice now. Last time, he didn't, and he was right not to. They simply committed the same misconducts in court this time, that brought about the last trial, without a breath lost. Now is the time to celebrate Kenny's removal from Death Row, for him to really 'button his lip' (jailhouse witnesses are a risk if he does get to integrate at some point), but not to get complacent. A retrial is no guarantee of justice. That person who's calling the jail - STOP NOW. You are not proving you're a political activist to the jail but simply aggravating them and this WILL affect Kenny. You care about him - you'll call a halt now, for Kenny's sake. debs http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/WalterBarton/ Walter Barton - Please Reinvestigate or Dismiss. Red Flags Flying! Thanks Debs for putting it as crystal clear as can possibly be. I agree with you wholeheartedly on your whole post and I too would ask that people supporting Kenny would just sit back and have patience. When we need help of course we will send out the word, but until that time decorum is the daily motto. Whomever is contacting please, please, please... understand your keenness is admirable, but at this stage very very inappropriate for Kenny. Take care, Bobbie In criticizing, the teacher is hoping to teach. That's all. Bankei |
