My name is Roberta Franklin. I livein Montgomery, Alabama. I have been a supporter of Patrick Swiney for quite some time now. His wife Sherry is a good friend of mine. I am always surprised at the insight Patrick has concerning his friends. I went through a very bad year in 2006. I was persecuted in Montgomery for my views on the prison system and I buried my only son(32 years old) During my son's illness I worked with Sherry on a National March in Washington DC(www.journeyforjustice.org) One day I was feeling extremely depressed and I went to the mail box. I got a letter from Patrick. In spite of all he has gone through and is still going through, he took the time to write and inspire me.I began to see that he always seemed to know just when I would be at my lowest. I don't know how he does it but he does. I felt so much better after I got the letter. He will make you laugh and when you think about all he is going through, he will make you cry.

It was hard to believe that any person in his situation could or would possibly take the time to care about someone else, but that has been my experience with Patrick from day one. It is my fondest dream that he be released and united with Sherry. Patrick is innocent and it is a shame that in this so-called fair country, his innocence is not even being considered. I truly love Patrick. He calls me his Black sister, He sees no color and helps everyone in and outside of prison. It is my prayer that 2006 is the year he will be sent home to enjoy the rest of his life. He has certainly sufferred in the hell hole we call an Alabama prison. I will do everything in my power to make sure that dream is realized. I want to shake my brothers hand and thank him for all the rough times he has helped me get through.
