Latest heart scare leaves Richey facing hospital tests
DEATH Row Scot Kenny Richey has suffered another heart scare in prison and is set to return to hospital for tests.
It is the latest in a line of health scares for the prisoner following a heart attack in August, which was his third in five years.
His ex-fiancee, Karen Torley, revealed the news after speaking to Richey from his Ohio cell.
"He told me that he will be going back into hospital for tests on his heart again. He has been having pains," she said.
She said doctors may consider removing an extendable tube, which was inserted in an operation last year, and replacing it with another one.
"He is feeling anxious about it but knows that it needs to be done," she said. "I would ask that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers at this stressful time."
Richey, who grew up in Edinburgh, has been in a US prison for 20 years.
He was sentenced to death in 1987 for the death of two-year-old Cynthia Collins, who died in a fire in 1986.
Ms Torley added: "There is no news on his appeal decision yet, which is rather frustrating to say the least.
"Other than that, he is in pretty good spirits and being his usual joking self."
Richey has been plagued by poor health in recent years and suffers from the sleeping disorder apnoea, which can lead to high blood pressure.
