Ohio man tells executioners

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Reuters) - A double murderer was put to death in Ohio on Tuesday but not until after one of his veins had collapsed, causing the condemned man to sit up and tell his executioners, "It's not working," officials said.

Joe Clark was supposed to be executed in Ohio this morning at 10am.  Joe Clark died at 11.26am because they could not find a vein in this mans arms.

We have just heard from Sr. Alice and Eunice and a reporter from the Columbus Dispatch, all of whom are in Lucasville right now.

They have just reported that The State of Ohio had been trying to execute Joseph Clark for nearly an  hour and a half without effect. They were unable to find a vein in which to administer the injection and one vein collapsed. 

Now, at 11:26 am Joseph Clark has just been executed.

Inmate talks to family on day before execution

LUCASVILLE - Condemned inmate Joseph Lewis Clark dined on surf and turf and talked with family by phone yesterday as the hour of his death approached.

Gov. Bob Taft has denied clemency and Clark had no court appeals pending last night that could stop his execution at 10 a.m. today for the murder of David A. Manning 22 years ago during a drug-driven, nine-day armed robbery spree.
