No exoneration or payout as Richey heads home
DEATH ROW Scot Kenny Richey has been given a new hearing date of January 7, at which he will accept a plea of no contest to charges of killing two-year-old Cynthia Collins by setting a fire that caused her death 21 years ago.
Kenny said he feels a little better and he will wait till he gets home to get any medical treatment he needs to have.
He thinks he will get to go to court tomorrow or Friday, and hopefully be back home in time for New Year.
NEWS that Kenneth Richey plans to cop a no-contest plea to lesser crimes in the 1986 fire death of a 2-year-old Putnam County girl is a keen disappointment to those of us who expected the 43-year-old Scotsman would finally get full and fair disposition of the charges against him.
Sean Richey took off to see his father
THE SON of death row Scot Kenny Richey was arrested after going on the run from police in a desperate bid to be reunited with his father. Twenty-two-year-old Sean Richey was due to appear at Crow Wing County District Court, Minnesota, on Wednesday at a pretrial hearing on misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct charges. His mother has revealed he failed to show because he wanted to hug his dad for the first - and possibly last - time.
Tests revealed he had about 60 percent blockage in his heart and will need an operation, said Steve Richey, who spoke to his brother Friday afternoon.
Ken Richey, 43, wants to have the operation after he is released and not delay his return to freedom, his brother said.
