Is the 10th Anniversary of the execution of Nicholas Lee Ingram. 31 year old Nicholas Lee Ingram, became the first British-born murderer to be executed in the United States, since 1936, when he was put to death in Georgia's electric chair on Friday 7th April 1995

Which is when I began to fight against the Death Penalty in USA and for Kenny too.

I dont know why Nicholas Lee Ingram touched me and lit a fire in my heart but he did and it remains as strong today as it did the night I was totally outraged about his electrocution.

I dont know details of Nicholas's case as such. It wasnt about guilt or innocence for me. It was about seeing a human being being treated so badly and so publicly. I recall his poor mother in tears as she begged John Major on TV to stop this thing. Major wouldnt help.

I know there where victims in this case. Mr. J. C. Sawyer was shot and murdered and there was the attempted murder of his wife, Mary who thankfully survived. Of course I remember they where damaged also as a result of this and am deeply saddened. I wish them peace in life and hope they have got on with their lives despite this terrible thing happening in their family.

Clive Stafford Smith who was Nicholas's attorney said after witnessing the exectution, ""He wasn't the only one who was getting hurt here, it was his family, and he asked me to say he had written a letter to the Sawyers and please not to harass his family any more.

"He wanted to look forward into another life so he could look out for something better than what had happened in this life which had been so sad."

If it hadnt been for Nicholas Lee Ingram's execution being so public and horrible with vivid details of what was happening as it happened I would probably never have got involved in campaigning for Kenny or anyone for that matter.

So I guess in some horrible way Nicholas did help others, even though he paid for his life in a most horrific way.

Thank you Nicky and Eternal Rest to you.
