Kenny Richey
Hi Everyone from Kelly in Aussie Hi Everyone,
I am guessing if you are reading this you are checking out Kenny's site and could even be a supporter.
It's hard when you look at a case like Kenny's and not to see the whole thing as being overwhelming. It is hard not to think .......... I'm only one person what can I do ?
Let's remember that Kenny was a number in the system, a person most of us would never have heard of, a person who today most likely would have been executed, if not for one person. Yes one person and not a person who has super powers or is any more special than you and I. The difference is this person, Karen, said I might be one person, but this is wrong and I won't sit here and be quite. Nelson Mandala was one person, Ghandi was one person and even Oprah was just one person in the big system and sure you may not think you don't have the strength these people do.
We support these people, we admire them and so we should. We tend to see them as stronger than us, amazing people, something we couldn't be. Maybe we can't all be the leaders or a loud voice for issues of others who suffer, but we respect these people because they stand up and do it.
People are thankful, appreciate and those who do and they are even overwhelmed themselves that others see them this way.Even the greatest person we revere sees themselves as just another person like you or I. Even the Dalai Lama speaks of the fact he is just a person who believes in good.
Well Karen is a great leader and we think she is so strong and applaud the work she does. Let me tell you though, she may have your support, but she is just like you or I. She is a lady that works from home and campaigns for Kenny from her home computer. The same as you or I could if we had the strength. We see a website and news reports and are assured the world is listening and I hope they are. However what you may not know is Karen doesn't have ANY financial support other than the donations her supporters may give. She would be embarrassed for you to hear, she has had her own home telephone disconnected cause she couldn't afford to pay the bill. She couldn't afford to buy presents for her own son's birthday because she puts all the money she can spare into the fight to save Kenny. She asked her long time supporters to send him birthday messages from around the world so he would still feel it was a special day.
PLEASE !!!!!! everyone it's time to stop looking at this like a car wreck where someone else will help as you drive by.
Sure many of us are doing it tough and I'm sure we all see the adds that $1 a day can save a child from poverty and think about it. I'm telling you if Karen had 100 people who gave her just $10 a MONTH it would make a difference a HUGE one. PLEASE, that is just $2.50 per week. Think about that. PLEASE !!!!!!!!!
I am sure even those of us in financial troubles, buy a soft drink at the servo once a week, get a takeaway, catch the bus instead of walking. $2.50 in one week we all give it away without thinking much, but if we gave it to Karen we would be helping to save an innocent man from death. Imagine if it was your dad, your husband, your child or someone you cared about, just asking to have a new trial after 20 years in jail and the person fighting for them could not even pay their own phone bill or buy presents for their own son's birthday.
You may think you are one person and someone else will help. The someone else is Karen and she IS one person. A person like you or I, not rich, NO financial support she just knows how to make a noise.
I am begging people PLEASE even if you can only give $5 a month NEVER EVER think it doesn't help. Many popular charities leave donation tins at checkouts, if 100 people throw 50 cents change in there each week, they have another $50 to help the cause.
You can donate to Karen's support for Kenny through Paypal. If you think it sounds hard and you aren't a big Internet shopper and it seems scary and difficult, it isn't.
You can sign up in about 2 minutes and it's secure. You just need a credit card and it's a few clicks away.
Please I ask everyone, $2.50 a week, a coke, a coffee, a bus ride, a take away and YOU can make a difference you can help save an innocent man, you can help Kenny. Please stop thinking someone else will do it. $10 a month will stop this lady from having to have her own phone disconnected because she gives all she can to the fight for Kenny.
I anticipate your goodness will shine through and I never discount the good many have done in letter writing and other things for the campaign, but please people and when I say people I mean the little people you and I, $10 a month, even $5 a month will help towards saving this man's life. Could you at least think about that next time you sit down to a cup of coffee at a cafe, you CAN make a difference.
Thanks for listening and I hope you will help
Kelly
