Kenny Richey
Happy New Year, Thoughts and Thank You's Well this is the end of a very eventful year. Its a year I personally am glad to see the back of. It has been one that has been an emotional roller coaster of events, a year where I have worked on 2 books I am writing and detailing everything that has happened in the campaign and personally. I might end up with an encyclopedia:) I find writing theraputic so everything gets tossed in. God help whoever has to edit it. haha.
Kenny and I would both like to wish you a very Happy New Year.
2005 began with such hope that Kenny would be freed and well the rest is history as they say. Now Kenny is facing possibly another 2 years of this hell while the courts play legal games with a mans life. Kenny needs your support more than ever and thankfully people know this. I have so many emails from people wishing us well and asking what they can do. I will print them off and send them to Kenny or read them to him on the phone a little at a time. It gives him hope to carry on knowing people care so much and for so long. He is truly blessed and he knows it. To have such loyal support who have been with him every step of the way over all these years, believing in him and fighting for him is truly a miracle. Thank you all who have been here for so long with us both. And who continue to help in whatever ways you can. It is appreciated more than you will ever know. Thank you!
2005 is ending with the looming execution of another man who has been on Ohio's death row for 23 yearsfor a crime the evidence shows he did not commit. Read the case on www.johnspirko.com John has a serious execution date for 19th January. I really hope I do not have to make that journey to Ohio for this terrible act on an innocent man but I will if I have to do so. I am urging everyone who has supported Kenny to support John. In fact anyone who feels injustice is wrong we need them to voice their opinions now.
Ohio is so very wrong in this case. The death penalty is wrong for ALL I believe, but executing innocents and people with evidence like John has is even more wrong.
There is one simple thing people can do for John and it is fax the Governor of Ohio from the link below. It is free. Takes 3 minutes and will let them know John has so much support. John is a very special friend of mine and I believe in his innocence as much as I do Kennys.
Take action now at http://www.democracyinaction.org
It is free and it is easy to do. We need to protest as loudly as possible for John.
Pass this around to as many people as you can.
I want to thank some very special people in my life right now. Firstly, my parents who have loved me and stood by me no matter what has happened. They knew what my beliefs where and they share them too. A special thanks to my daddy, who has pushed and helped me more than anyone has in this fight for justice for the innocent.
There is a song I love called, "You raise me up" and this is what my mammy and daddy have done for me. Here are the words. I love you both so very much.
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
That is the gift my parents gave to me. Thank you for the unconditional love.
Also, my two sisters and my brother who have been so supportive and loving towards me in this fight for justice. I love you all so much.
Not forgetting my kids, Jayne, Michelle, Katie and Mark whom have endured many years of this campaign and support Kenny and know him and believe in his innocence.
Kids, thank you for being so special and for standing by me even when you got embarrased with the media attention on your mother :) I love you all my wee babies.
To John and Tracy Spirko for loving me and for being supportive even when it is so bleak for them right now. God Bless you both. My thoughts and heart are with you.
To Alan Fisher, George Tanber, Alan Johnson, Greg Sowinski, Marion Scott, Jim McBeth, David Rose, Reg Mckay, David Leslie, Jim Provance, Adam Docherty, Karen McVeigh, Jenny Veitch and countless others who have been supportive media and friends I thank you all. If I forgot to add your name please dont be offended.
I also wish happiness, peace and love to my special friends Debs and Lisa and their families. Lisa was instrumental in getting Kenny's son Sean to see him in a way. I love you both. Debs I pray Arkie recieves justice in March at long last.
And now for a special thanks. Lucy Fyson, Flora Davis and Alan James, it has been a true pleasure having you in my life. You are all so special to me and I thank you for making it possible for Kenny to meet his son Sean for the first time and allow me to be there when he did so. If it wasnt for you guys it wouldnt have happened. Lucy thanks for sticking to your guns and for everything.
Thank you to Amnesty International in UK and US, to Reprieve, to Alistair Carmichael and all the MPS who fight so hard also Clive Stafford Smith, Sister Helen Prejean, Susan Sarandon, Irvine Welsh, Robbie Coltrane, Yasmin Waljee and all at Lovells.
Last but not least, Ken Parisgian, Daryl Weisen, Paul Nemser and all at Goodwin Proctor who have given so much of their time and money and of themselves to fight for Kenny. Not only are they brilliant lawyers they are also good friends I am glad to have in my life.
Not to be forgotten is our wonderful webmaster Marcus who has donated so much of his time and energy to this campaign and Bobbie Isbell who has been a staunch supporter and fighter for the cause and for Kenny for so many years. And Peter Campbell who supports not only Kenny but so many other good causes. Thank you all.
I dont want to offend anyone, and I keep remembering names so if I didnt add your name it is not that you are not important, its just my memory is so bad.
Happy New Year everyone, we wish you all the very best of health, happiness and love in the coming New Year. We also pray for justice for John Spriko and anyone else suffering injustice and pray for the abolition of the death penalty too.
And also for people who are finding it hard to cope, I pray you find the strength to live one day or even one hour at a time and find something each day in which to be thankful for and to rejoice in. Search and see, it is there no matter what your circumstances.
May your God go with you always.
