Death Row Scot could be free in a week
Kenny Richey could be freed from jail this week after more than 20 years on death row in America.
The 43-year-old from Edinburgh faces a bail hearing in Ohio tomorrow after judges overturned his conviction for murder and arson two months ago.
Just weeks after being moved off Death Row to an open prison in Ohio, Kenny Richey's supporters believe the Scot could soon be released for the first time in 21 years.
Richey was sentenced to death for starting a fire which killed a two-year-old girl. He has always protested his innocence and in August a federal appeals court threw out his conviction and
Richey could get bail and death sentence.
Tomorrow he faces a bail hearing, where he could be released or an announcement made about a date for a retrial.
Karen Torley, who has campaigned on his behalf for many years, says Richey wants to clear his name in court.
Tomorrow's hearing is the latest in a long and complicated legal battle but Richey is unlikey to be returning here to his home town in Edinburgh in the near future.
