Kenny Richey
Coltrane's Letter to the 6th Circuit Last year saw the well known actress Susan Sarandon giving her support to Kenny.
She has recently been joined by others, namely Robbie Coltrane (lately seen as Hagrid in Harry Potter) and Irvine Welsh (the author of Trainspotting).
Coltrane wrote a letter to the Appelate Judges, and Welsh have written articles in support of Kenny.
A sidenote: Letters to Judges are not, generally, something we recommend.
They are by their profession more or less required to disregard such letters.
And it may, at worst, cloud the issues at hand.
As a fellow Scot I was horrified when I heard about the case of Kenny Richey, and felt compelled to add my voice to the growing campaign to have the whole case reexamined.

Kenny is facing execution in Ohio for a crime that the Prosecution itself are no longer sure he is guilty of.
Since the original trial, new evidence has come to light that calls the conviction into doubt and even though ? as the prosecution says - "the Ohio and United States constitution nonetheless allows him to be executed because the prosecution did not know that the scientific testimony offered at the trial was false and unreliable". I would urge this Court, the Governor and authorities of Ohio to look at the facts of this case as they now stand.
For the family that lost the little girl in the fire, I feel great sadness, but urge this Court that in the interests of justice Kenny Richey must at the very least be entitled to a new trial.
Yours sincerely,
Robbie Coltrane
