Letter about Pontius Petro Re Spirko Case

John Spirko Case.

As a concerned person and a citizen of Scotland, who has watched the State of Ohio for over ten years with it's broken "justice" and death penalty system, I am appalled at the way The Parole Board and more so AG Petro are totally disregarding all the evidence in the case of John Spirko.

We are told that the appeals system is there for a safeguard against innocent people being executed.

This is the biggest lie ever told in Ohio.

Why? Well when the appeals go against the State like they did in the Kenny Richey case, still the AG INSISTS he has a just conviction DESPITE all the evidence to the contrary.

Which is EXACTLY what is happening in the John Spirko case too.

As the Dayton Daily News has rightly said, the clemency proceedings are lax and slip shod.

There is no fairness. NONE!

John Spirko has endured 23 years on death row for a crime the evidence shows he did not commit.

John, has had a past that is correct BUT that past is nothing to do with this case and does not make him guilty just because of that. AG Petro seems to think it does.

Mr Petro seems to want his kind of "justice" no matter what the facts of a case are. He is side stepping the issue here. And the issue is that a man who is probably innocent will be killed by the state of Ohio on 20th Sept. This man will be killed in the name of every single Ohio citizen whether they want it or not. The people of Ohio need to be aware of what is being done in their name. You may not care personally for John Spirko but you should care about justice and injustice in your State. It could happen to you too!!

Personally I would admire more, as would many other people, if sometimes they would admit to the possibilty that they just might have got it wrong.

That shows integrity. I wonder does Mr Petro know the meaning of the word?

His letter to the parole board is simply like Ponitus Pilate washing his hands and leaving the decision up to someone else.

THIS IS HIS CALL AND IN THE NAME OF DECENCY AND JUSTICE HE SHOULD HAVE ALL THE EVIDENCE AND EVERYTHING JOHN SPIRKO'S ATTORNEYS HAVE AVAILABLE RELOOKED AT AS A MATTER OF URGENCY.

You cannot pardon a corpse.

And this is not justice for the Mottinger family either. They have also endured much pain and torture over these years but they have been lied to by over zealous prosecutors,a lying postal inspector and an Attorney General who does not appear to know what the words fairness and justice really mean.

So if John Spirko is innocent, which I believe with all my heart he is, this means there is a murderer who has got away with the "perfect crime" then he or they have been assisted by the State of Ohio in achieving this!!

To execute someone there has to be 200% beyond reasonable doubt in a case.

Can anyone who looks at the facts of this case say this is the truth in this case? NO they cannot.

When someone's very life is at stake, then every possible measure should be taken to ensure the full case is heard.

John Spirko has been there 23 years and not once in that 23 years has his entire defence been heard. NOT ONCE.

AG Petro might say it has but he is being once more economical with the truth.

The world is watching Ohio and shaking its head in disgust at what is happening in the "INJUSTICE" system, that we are told is the greatest in the world.

That is not how the rest of the world views what is happening in Ohio or USA.

Its time for a reality check before it is too late for John Spriko.

It is time this case was reopened and looked at, so that the Mottinger family too can have some justice.

This poor family will not find closure with the death of John Spriko. My heart goes out to them because of the loss and pain they have suffered.

There has been three injustices inflicted by the State of Ohio.

The first was to Betty Jane Mottinger who was murdered.

The second to her family, who have not recieved true justice or the full story.

And last but not least John Spirko, who has sat on Ohio's death row for 23 years, for a crime he did not commit.

When will Ohio stop and look when there is evidence of an injustice?

When will the AG stop being so arrogant as to think that the State get their man and are right every time? Why have appeals to safeguard inmates when the State won't even consider the possiblity that they just might have made a mistake?
